'Mapping' option Finding catchments with the A-Z picker Finding catchments with the 'Search' button Ordering catchments for selection Selecting the catchments to map Showing your selected catchments 'Show selected' button The 'Mapping' option Once you have clicked on the 'Mapping' option, the JICREG mapping screen appears. The tab menu across the top helps you choose what should be displayed on your map. On choosing 'Mapping', the 'catchments' tab will automatically be highlighted. Under the 'catchments' tab, you will see the different geography types you can choose to map catchments from: County, ILR, ISBA, ITV, Local Government, Newspapers, Registrar-General, User Lists, and Selected. Click on the catchment type you are interested in mapping. NB You can map more than one catchment type at a time. There are two ways of finding the catchments you would like to display. You can use either the A-Z picker if you know the first initial of the paper, town, county etc. or you can search for a specific word which you know is in the catchment name. Finding catchments with the A- Z picker An A-Z picker helps you navigate each geography type, as shown below. The following image shows an example of a Newspaper catchment type when picking the letter 'L'. For catchment lists that contain a lot of options, the options are shown in alphabetical order. Finding catchments with the 'Search' button The 'Search' button allows you to make your selections even quicker. Type in the relevant text (e.g. Liverpool) or part text (e.g. Liv) into the 'Search' box. For example, if you wanted to find the Liverpool Echo: Select the 'Newspapers' option in the 'catchments' tab Type in "Liverpool" in the 'Search' box Click on the 'Search' button Ordering catchments for selection To make your choice of Newspaper Title/Radio station easier, you can order the data by ascending and descending by clicking on a column heading. For example, if you want to order Newspaper catchments by Total AIR, click on the column heading “Total AIR”. This will order the data appropriately making it easier to select your choices. Below is an example of an ascending view sorted on 'Sales House'. Below is an example of a descending view sorted on 'Sales House' Selecting the catchments to map Select any combination of catchments to display on your map by checking the box on the left hand side of the catchment name. Select / deselect all catchments by using the check box in the header bar. If you wish to add any additional catchments from another geography type, navigate through the predefined geography types by clicking on the relevant headings. Proceed to make your catchment selections by checking the box next to a catchment you want to include on your map. Deselect any catchments by unchecking the boxes To ensure your map is clear it is recommended not to make more than eight catchment selections. At any time, you can reset your choices by clicking on the 'Reset' option. Showing your selected catchments When you have chosen your catchments, click on the ‘Selected’ tab to show a summary list of all the catchments you have selected to map. ‘Show Selected’ button At the bottom of the page, the 'Show Selected' button will also show a summary list of all the catchments you have selected to map. Use the ‘Points’ and ‘Map Options’ tabs to put further detail on to your map. To display your catchments on a map click on either the ‘map:vml’ or ‘map:svg’ tabs.
